AviSkills is a not-for-profit collaboration of government and industry organisations and is based at Tamworth Airport. AviSkills was established in 2001 as APAC – Australasian Pacific Aviation College (renamed 2012) with the specified purpose of facilitating and supporting training in aviation maintenance and engineering nationally and internationally.
The APAC/AviSkills Board actively developed an integrated building and aircraft servicing training facility in Hangar 9 at Tamworth Airport. APAC started by supporting training needs identified at QantasLink and BAE Systems. Since then, CASA 147 accredited aviation maintenance training has been delivered at the Facility to apprentices from over 40 businesses by TAFE New England as the Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
The current Board Members comprise representatives from TAFE NSW (New England RTO), Qantas, Jetstar, Tamworth Regional Council, BAE Systems, McCarthy Consultants and a Community Member.
